DREAMING ABOUT ALIENS AND OTHER STRANGERS
DREAMING ABOUT ALIENS AND OTHER STRANGERS: Dream Info Session No. 133
Aliens by definition are foreign, not-one-of-us, and this makes them prime as symbols for all kinds of feelings. The more "foreign," the more your subconscious is scratching at your windows.
ALIENS OF THE UFO KIND
Let's get the favorites out of the way right off the bat. If you're dreaming about interstellar folks and their crafts, it can mean something as mundane as you should be paying more attention to some part of yourself that you're holding back or denying even exists, that it is literally alien to your conscious mind and personality. So the kind of alien gives you lots of clues.
But aliens also represent a source of extra-ordinary not-of-this-dimension perception and power. Again, the kind of alien, what it's doing, how it gets around - all mean something.
What talents do your aliens have that you think you don't? What type of alien is it? What is its natural environment? How did it make itself known to you? What was your first reaction? How did it react to you? What does it want to tell you? Is it for or against humans? Are you one of them, here on sabbatical or mission? How would the presence of an alien change your life, your thinking? How would you like to meet it while you're awake? And, of course, what does all of this remind you of going on in your life at the time?
Anything or anyone foreign in your dream is often showing you unfamiliar differences and your feelings about differences - something totally different from who you think you are.
Foreign symbolizes that you are about to or wish to travel to another environment, another state of being, another stage of growth and behavior. Anything foreign can also symbolize that new and till now unrecognized parts of the real You are coming forward, or trying to.
What is foreign in your dream? How do you know it is? What is your reaction? Your connection? How are you interacting with the foreign person or object? How is that different from the way you would interact if you were awake?
Are you in a foreign country? What kind of people would choose to live there? What is its environment, culture, language?
How do you feel about foreigners in general? Do they make you nervous, uncomfortable? Do they interest you? How is their culture different from yours? What does that remind you of in your own life?
It's common to not recognize all of the people in your dreams, for them to be rather vague and faceless even though you know them while you're dreaming. In general, strangers are simply showing you some unfamiliar parts of yourself, the actors you've placed on your dream stage to represent different aspects of your personality.
But in some ancient cultures, the stranger represented the one who was destined to replace the one in power, so your stranger may be telling you there is now a possibility for change, the future will inevitably become the present - a transformation is coming.
A stranger can also represent a Teacher or Guide who has taken on a particular persona to get the message across, and this is the role of many famous people you dream about. Get into their public image and character to help you understand the message - who you think they are, how you feel about them. And of course pay close attention to what they say to you or show you.
Is the stranger male or female? What are they doing, saying? How are they dressed? Are they helpful or threatening? How would you like to meet them, hang out with them? Uh-huh - why?
See you next week. In the meantime, keep tracking those aliens....
