WHAT DOES IT MEAN WHEN YOU DREAM ABOUT YOUR FATHER?
WHAT DOES IT MEAN WHEN YOU DREAM ABOUT YOUR FATHER, TO BE A SON? Dream Info Session No. 65
Let's start our family symbol rundown with the biggies first. (See last week's Session 64 for dreaming about Family in general.)FATHER Father represents your own mature, masculine (Yang), protective energy — the wise old man, the sage, the shaman, the teacher, the instructor in getting along in the outside world, the protector, the disciplinarian — whether you are male or female. The archetype of Father symbolizes respect for the laws made by mankind, while Mother in this context represents respect for natural laws. Father as an archetype is also of course Absolute Being, the Source of All That Is. From the Father comes the Son, God manifest but limited within the laws of His own creation.
The Father sets the blueprints and patterns for each image and archetype and implanted a master image which holds multiple symbols for each archetype. So your dream father might be reminding you that you are a creator, holding within you many, many ways to act, shape, and interpret your own life.
Dream fathers can represent or be represented by any authority figure in your life — your boss, brother, pastor, congressman — you get the idea. He can of course also represent your own father. What is your father like as a person? How do you feel about him — be clear and detailed about this one. Is your dream father different from your real father? How? How do you feel about that? how would your life change if your dream father behaved like your dream father?
The masculine principle itself is often symbolized by the sun and by anything capable of penetration (sword, needle, insect stinger, etc.) and with heat and dryness, so "father" may not always show up as "father" — if you get my drift.
Son is another symbol of the Yang part of you, whether you are male or female. Sons are products of their father and mother, a combining of the two.
As an archetype, son is a symbol of the Higher Self incarnated in a human being in the image of his father, his source. Son also represents the double, the living image of the father, the alter ego. The Son comes from the Father, God both manifest and limited within His own creation.
The ancient phrase "Son of Man" represents the soul at the stage of being made perfect by working with its physical nature, a soul not yet completely evolved, while the phrase "Son of God" represents the soul perfected.
A son can also represent qualities you project onto your own son, or qualities in the relationship between you and your son, or how you feel about being a son.
- How is the dream son different from you or your son, or one you know?
- What is the son like as a person?
- What would he like to say if he could rewrite his lines?
- What are his parents like? Who do they remind you of?
- Who or what is he a son to? Example: anger is the son of fear.
See you next week when we do the really big one — Momma. Dream well....
